Insider: Concept to Construction - the full
design process - in brief
Every project begins with the client brief, this jumping off point begins the highly creative process of concept development. Using thought provoking images to convey a mood or a style a series of mood boards are compiled in order to define the scope and importantly the story.
The story behind the design scheme informs a visual narrative that structures and distills the moods and inspirations into a coherent schematic design that can be drawn and executed in three dimensions. This narrative in it's built form becomes a conversation between the designer, client and the end user.
Typically the Interior Design process is broken down into phases that correspond with the stages of construction.
They are:
Stage 1 - Brief, Mobilisation
Stage 2 - Concept Design
Stage 3 - Schematic Design
Stage 4 - FF&E and Materials Documentation & Specification
Stage 5 - Detail Design
Stage 6 - Bid / Tender Documents and phased Construction Documentation
Stage 7 - Construction Administration
